Sri Lankan juniors taste success

Three Sri Lankan junior players, two girls and one boy, found their feet in the second round match of the ATF Under-14 tennis tournament at the SLTA tennis courts at Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.

In the girls category Kavya Banagala and Satuli Mutugama won their matches against compatriots Manuli Seneviratne and Thishya Banagala. 

The Indian girls too had success with two of their players Haritshwari Chinnakavanam and Wazooha Khan winning against two Sri Lankan girls.

In the boys’ category the sole winner was Nuren Wevita who defeated Titus Mirto of Finland. 

Hong Kong had two winners in James Won and Shun Wing Leung who secured wins against two Sri Lankan players.

The tournament was hampered by heavy rain and it will be continued today.

Boys - Nuren Wevita (Sri Lanka) beat Titus Mirto (Finland) 2-0 (4/2, 4/0). Nihals Reddy (India) beat Rahal Fernandesz (Sri Lanka) 2-1 (7/6, 2/6, 6/4). James Won (Hong Kong) beat Kashya Seneviratne (Sri Lanka) 2-0 (6/1, 6/1). Shun Wing Leung (Hong Kong) beat Muhaamad Thariq (Sri Lanka) 2-0 (6/3, 6/0).
