Sri Lanka to host PSA Challenger squash

Sri Lanka will host the Reliance PSA Challenger Championship 2025 from September 17 to 21 at the Ratmalana Air Force Squash Complex offering prize money of $6,000 for men and $3,000 for women according to the organisers the Professional Squash Association (PSA) and sponsored by Reliance Logistics, 

The championship will feature top international players from 11 countries. In the men’s Open category, the top seeds are Malaysia’s Addeen Idrakie, Sri Lanka’s Ravindu Laksiri, Malaysia’s Duncan Lee and Hong Kong’s Wailok To. Idrakie, ranked World No. 84, has claimed back-to-back PSA Tour titles this year, while Laksiri, ranked World No. 106, recently won his 12th consecutive Sri Lanka National Championship and was named PSA Player of the Year in 2024.

In the women’s Open category, India’s Anjali Semwal, Sri Lanka’s Chanithma Sinaly, Malaysia’s Harleen Tan and Egypt’s Mona Tamer are top seeds. Semwal, World No. 156, has reached the semi-finals of multiple PSA Tour events, while Sinaly, a former runner-up at last year’s Reliance PSA Championship, has performed strongly in regional and international competitions.

Local players including Shamil Wakeel, Nevindu Lakman, Shariff Hakeem, Tuwin Osanda Herath, Methmal Wood, Viduranga Udantha and Matheesha Wijesekara have qualified based on their PSA rankings, ensuring strong Sri Lankan representation. The championship not only offers international exposure and ranking opportunities for local players but also positions Sri Lanka as a growing destination for global squash events according to the organisers.
