Sri Lanka juniors savour success

Five Sri Lankan junior players, three girls and two boys, tasted success on day one in the first round matches of the ITF Asia Junior U14 Development Championship Week 2 tournament at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.
Navya Banagala along with Sahansa Damsiluni and Dinethma Ekanayake were the winners in the girls’ category while Buvindu Jayawardena and Chirath Subasinghe came out on top in the boys’ category.
The tournament conducted by the ITF is being contested by 14 countries, Hong Kong, India, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Nepal, Myanmar, Syria, Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, Thailand and host Sri Lanka.

Boys:
Buvindu Jayawardena (Sri Lanka) beat Bishwo Dallakot (Nepal) 2-1 (4/6, 6/2, 6/2). Chirath Subasinghe (Sri Lanka) beat Aung Zay (Myanmar) 2-0 (6/4, 6/0)
