Sri Lanka junior football team leave for China

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports and the Sri Lankan Embassy in China, the Sri Lanka Under-16 football team is scheduled to participate in the Belt and Road 2025 Tianyu Liufang Cup International Football Tournament in Lijiang, China, from September 20 to 28. 

According to officials, the tour aims to elevate school football standards in Sri Lanka with the Ministry of Sports providing all necessary equipment, including clothing and flight tickets. Prior to the tour, the participating players and officials of the Sri Lankan team met with Minister of Sports Sunil Kumara Gamaga at the Ministry, where arrangements for the required infrastructure and support were confirmed. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Sugath Thilakarathna and Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) President Jaswar Umar.
