Hirun Matheesha shone with an unbeaten knock of 80 with six boundaries to guide Sri Lanka U-17 to record a convincing six wicket win over host Bangladesh U-17 in the second ODI encounter played at the BSCG ground in Bangladesh yesterday.

Hirun associated in three fruitful partnerships in Sri Lanka’s run chase of 195 runs with the first of 80 runs for the second wicket with Arosha Sithumina who made 50 followed by a 45 runs stand for the third wicket with Jason Fernando.

He also had an unbroken 36 runs stand for the fifth wicket with Sanul Weeraratne to help the side race to the target in the 37th over and level the three match series 1-1.

Earlier Bangladesh taking first lease of the wicket was nowhere near their first match performance. Apart from a second wicket partnership of 61 runs between opener Jarif Siyam who made a top score of 52 and first match top scorer Adrito Ghosh who shared a brief stand of 37 runs for the third wicket with Akash Roy, the others failed to make any impression as they were bowled out for 194.

The two teams will play their third ODI tomorrow at the same venue. (MSA)
