Sri Lanka climbs to 193rd in FIFA rankings

According to the FIFA World Rankings released on October 14, 2025, Sri Lanka has risen to the 193rd position, the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) confirmed.

Previously ranked 207th, Sri Lanka has moved up 14 places following impressive performances in recent international football matches.

Notably, the team’s 1–0 victory over Turkmenistan—a team ranked 138th in Asia and considered one of the region’s stronger sides—during the first leg of the AFC Asia Cup 2027 Qualifying Third Round (Group ‘D’) held in Colombo had played a significant role in Sri Lanka’s rise.

Sri Lanka is now scheduled to face Thailand in the second leg of the AFC Asia Cup qualifying round on November 7 in Colombo.
