Sri Lanka bag two medals at Taipei Open

Olympian Dilhani Lekamge won the Women’s javelin throw silver medal, while upcoming sprinter Chamod Yodhasinghe won the bronze medal in the Men’s 100m event at the 2025 Chinese Taipei Open Athletic Championships held in Taipei yesterday.
Dilhani won the silver medal by finishing with 56.62m while Yodhasinghe won the bronze medal by completing the event in 10.38s.
The javelin throw gold medal was won by India’s Annu Rani (56.82m), and the bronze medal was won by Chinese Taipei’s Pin Hsun Chu (53.03m). Yodhasinghe finished the 100m preliminary race in 10.29s, winning first place and qualifying for the final. However, he suffered a setback in the final race.
Meanwhile, the gold medal in the 100m event was won by Joseph Ayoade (Australia) with a time of 10.34s, and the silver medal was won by Brund DeDe (Japan) with a time of 10.36s.
In addition, Lesandu Arthavidu, who represented Sri Lanka, was placed sixth in the Men’s high jump final event, finishing with a jump of 2.05m.
