West Indies Under-19 won the seven-match ODI series 4-3 but not before an all-round performance from Kavija Gamage helped Sri Lanka U-19 to end their campaign on a winning note as he guided the side to a 130 runs win in the last match on the DLS method at the North Sound ground.
The match curtailed to 26 overs saw Sri Lanka U-19 taking first lease of the wicket making a score of 180 for 5 which came on the back of Kavija’s knock of 51 made in 38 balls which had six boundaries and a six and skipper Vimath Dinsara’s unbeaten 39 that included three boundaries and three sixes. The pair shared in a valuable 85 runs stand for the third wicket.
West Indies U-19 in their run chase lost their top five wickets with just 37 runs on the board before Kavija ran through the middle order batting supported by Vigneshwaran Akash and Sethmika Seneviratne as the trio combined to bundle out the host side for a paltry 62 runs.
