The HSBC Future Lions Golf grassroots programme, conducted for the second time in a partnership between Sri Lanka Golf (SLG) and HSBC, will be held from February 24 to April 9.
The programmer is targeted at children between the ages of 9 and 12 to introduce the sport to them and provide the opportunity to develop their skills.

The first edition was conducted in 2017, with over 700 young kids participating and several of them going on to compete in local and international events.

250 of those golfers benefited from further advanced training and development at the respective academies and 25 of them went on to take part in national level events.
Two of those Junior stars Adithya Weerasinghe and Thenuk Sasindu were from the Anuradhapura Academy, and both are single handicappers, now playing competitive Golf and recently selected to the Sri Lanka Golf (SLG) national junior squad.

The second edition will build on that success, expanding the reach of the programme and offering more opportunities for young people, with the involvemeneg of six leading Golf clubs namely at Shangrila Golf Resort Hambantota, Nuwara-Eliya Golf Club, Victoria Golf Club Digana, Eagles Heritage Golf Club – Anuradhapura, Eagles Links Golf Club – Trincomalee and Royal Colombo Golf Club – Colombo.

As part of the programme, the young golfers will benefit from coaching clinics with hands-on instruction from experienced golfers with an added initiative titled “Girls on Par” to increase the participation and representation of young girls in the sport.
