A match bag of 10 for 74 by skipper Kithma Vidanapathirana paved the way for Ananda College to record a close outright win by 13 runs over S. Thomas’ College in their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter played at Ananda Mawatha.

The match played over three days and fought out for the Halangoda - Atapattu Trophy saw Ananda bagging the title for the first time since it began seven years ago.

The Thomians chasing a target of 174 runs for victory were bowled out for 159 with Kithma doing the damage.

An all-round performance by Sri Lanka U-17 youth player Lahiru Lakmal who slammed a quick-fire 165 in just 80 balls that included 15 boundaries and ten towering sixes and bagged five wickets paved the way for Christ King College Ja-Ela to record a comfortable outright win by 87 runs over St Peter’s Negombo in another match.
