Sri Lanka’s Bronze Medalist at the recently concluded Asian Youth Games 2025, Kaya Daluwatte produced an outstanding opening round at the Singha Thailand Junior World Golf Championship 2025, finishing tied on number 1 position with Singapore’s Passion Hsu yesterday on the initial day of the Singha Thailand Junior World Championship 2025.
She carded a superb 1 under par round of 71 at the Royal Hua Hin Golf course displaying remarkable composure and precision throughout her round. Her steady putting and consistent fairway play kept her in contention from the start. Kaya’s impressive performance places her firmly among the front-runners, giving Sri Lanka an excellent chance for a podium finish as the championship continues.
Among the Boys Reshan who carded a round off 76 (+4) to finish tied in 10th place with Adhithya Weerasinghe and three more golfers. Despite a few challenges on the greens, Reshan keeping himself within striking distance of the leaders as the tournament progresses. Adhithya. Too was consistent iron play and steady approach throughout the round helped him stay level with several top regional players, reflecting Sri Lanka’s growing strength in junior golf. He took the learning from AYG 2025 in Bahrain and put up a good performances. Meanwhile, Thejas Rathiskanth faced a tougher start, finishing with a 86 (+14) and on 26th position overall Despite early setbacks, the young golfer will look to recover ground in the upcoming rounds, as conditions are expected to be more favorable. In the team event of Boys segment Sri Lanka was placed 6th out of 9 team where both Reshan and Adhithya featured. Philippines were leading on day 1 with a score of 144 while Sri Lanka was placed on 152 on number 6. Today is day 2.
