Sherene Wijesingha wins tennis title in UK

Former National and Fed Cup player Sherene Wijesingha won the Branksome Park Tennis Club Open women’s singles championship in the United Kingdom last month.

Now residing in the United Kingdom, Sherene continues to make her mark on the court while balancing family life with her three year old daughter Shenaya.

Sherene defeated three strong British opponents to claim the title.

She beat the quarter and semifinalists in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 and 6-3, 6-3 respectively.

The final was contested over three hours and she overcame her opponent 7-6, 6-7 and 10-1 in a thrilling tie-break to secure the title.

Her husband Dr. Senal Rodrigo was a pillar of strength to her.
