Seylan governs the rest at inter-bank TT

Seylan Bank emerged champions in the Mixed Team category at the 75th Anniversary Central Bank of Sri Lanka Inter-Bank Governor’s Trophy table tennis championship at S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium, Mount Lavinia. 

The tournament, organized by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, had the participation of both government and private banks across the country.

In a spectacular final, Seylan Bank defeated National Savings Bank (NSB) 3–2 to secure the prestigious title. Matches in the preliminary rounds were conducted on a league basis while the semi-finals onwards were played on a knockout format.

Seylan Bank qualified for the semi-finals after recording convincing wins over HSBC (3–0), People’s Bank (3–0) and Central Bank (3–1) in the league stage. In the semi-final, Seylan Bank outclassed Commercial Bank with a 3–0 victory to book their place in the final.

National Savings Bank showcased strong performances in their league stage by overcoming HNB (3–0) and Commercial Bank (3–2), although they suffered a narrow defeat to Bank of Ceylon (2–3). They advanced to the semi-final to face People’s Bank and secured a comfortable 3–0 win. 

However, in the final, Seylan Bank held their nerve to edge out NSB 3–2 and clinch the Governor’s Trophy.
