Schoolgirl Annaya and Apna grab Singles titles

Annaya Norbert and Apna Perera clinched the SLTA Yeti Courts Tennis National Championship 2025 women’s and men’s Open singles titles when they came out victorious in the two finals played at the SLTA tennis courts at Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.

Annaya, a student of Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya, coasted to an easy two sets to nil win over Vinethya Dharmaratne while Apna underwent some anxious moments before brushing aside the challenge of Ashen Silva to come out winner by two sets to one. 
Annaya has also qualified for the Under-16 and Under-18 semifinals.

Apna in the process won the hard court men’s Open title for the third time.

Meanwhile Mayooran Khubherane and Ashlin de Silva advanced to the final of the boys’ Under-16 Singles event by notching up wins against Shennon Anderson and Nevan Kannangara by two sets to nil in the two semifinal encounters played concurrently at the same venue.

Women’s Open - Annaya Norbert beat Vinethya Dharmaratne 2-0 (6/2, 6/2)
Men’s Open - Apna Perera beat Ashen Silva 2-1 (6/3, 6/7, 6/1).
Semi Final:
Boys Uner 16 - Mayooran Khubherane beat Shennon Anderson 2-0 (6/1, 6/1). Ashlin de Silva beat Nevan Kannangara 2-0 (6/2, 6/2).
