Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) President Roshan Gunawardena has held discussions with top officials of Badminton Asia (BA) during the ongoing WONDR Badminton Asia Junior Championship 2025 in Solo, Indonesia.

Gunawardena, who is accompanying the 20-member Sri Lanka junior squad at the 10-day tournament, met BA President Kim Jong Soo, Secretary General Dato Kenny Goh Chee Kiong, and Chief Operating Officer Chui Weng Sheng to discuss initiatives to develop the sport in Sri Lanka.

He proposed promoting Air Badminton at schools and universities in rural areas, training 50 teachers from 25 selected schools as instructors and enhancing the standards of players and coaches.

“The meeting was positive and fruitful. The feedback was highly encouraging and Sri Lanka will benefit in time to come,” Gunawardena said.

BA officials pledged their support and invited Gunawardena to present Sri Lanka’s development proposals at the South Asia Regional Badminton Championship in Bhutan from August 15–22.
