SLA special selection trial on April 19

Sri Lanka’s 4X400m Men’s Relay Team special selection trial for the South Asian Senior Athletic Championship and Asian senior Athletic Championship May conducted by Sri Lanka Athletic (SLA) will be held on April 19 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Sports Complex in Diyagama.

The fourth South Asian Senior Athletic Championship will be held from May 3 to 5 in Ranchi, India while the 26th Asian Senior Athletic Championship will be held from May 27 to 31 in Gumi, South Korea.

The Sri Lanka Men’s 4X400m Relay Team will be selected at this special trial, SLA President Major General (Retired) Palitha Fernando told the Daily Mirror yesterday.

The Sri Lanka Women’s 4X400m Relay Team has been selected for these two international events.

Sri Lanka’s top 18 athletes have qualified to participate at the special selection trial.

 The list of athletes eligible to compete: Aruna Darshana (46.12s), Kalinga Kumarage (46.20s), Sadew Rajakaruna (46.75s), H. D. R. Madushan (46.92s), Omel Silva (47.08s), Isuru Lakshan (47.24s), Harsha Karunarathna (47.24s), Pradeep Kumara (47.28s), R. A. I. Maduranga (47.32s), Isuru Barns (47.36s), Pabasara Niku (47.41s), Dinuka Deshan (47.42s), S. K. A. M. I. Dismitha (47.43s), K. V. K. Silva (47.46s), Rajitha Rajakaruna (47.52s), Kalhara Idupa (47.83s). Reserves: E. A. I. S. Edirisinghe (47.96s) and I. M. Bogoda (47.97s).
