SL to send six athletes for Kazakhstan meet in final bid for Olympic qualification

Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) is hoping to send a six-member team on the directive of Sports Minister Na mal Rajapaksa to participate in the XXXI Qosanar Memorial international invitation athletic championship to be held in Kazakhstan on June 19 and 20.

With the final date for Olympic qualification being June 29, no Sri Lankan athlete has achieved the qualifying standard. SLA has nominated three men and three women for the championship. They are Sumedha Ranasinghe (javelin throw), Kalinga Kumarage (800m), Ushan Thiwanka (high jump), Nimali Liyanarachchi (800m), Dilshi Kumarasinghe (800m) and Nadeesha Ramanayake (400m).
