Sri Lanka defeated Maldives 2-0 in their SAFF Women's Football Championship opening match played at the Shahid Rangasala Stadium in Nepal today (15).

Chalani Ekanayake scored both goals after Sri Lanka had taken a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half.

Sri Lanka will play against India in their next match on Sunday (17) at the same venue.
