Rukmal, Madirika clinch race-walking titles

R. M. D. Rukmal of Uva Province (UP) and Kalhari Madirika of Western Province (WP) won the Men’s and Women’s race-walking titles at the 47th National Sports Games, held in Gampaha.   

A total of 100 men and 40 women participated in this event which was conducted by the Sports Development Department of the Ministry of Sports covering 20km along the New Road in Gampaha. Rukmal finished his course with a time of 2:34.09s while Madirika returned a time of 1.50.58s.

Men’s: (1). R. M. D. Rukmal (UP) 1:34.09s, (2). Ravindra Herath (North Central) 1:35.52s, (3). Sandun Lakmal (North Western) 1:36.53s, (4). Y. S. Wimalasooriya (Southern) 1:40.59s, (5). Kumara Sampath (Central) 1:41.03s   

Women’s: (1). Kalhari Madirika (WP) 1:50.58s, (2). Dinusha Dilhani (Southern) 1:53.47s, (3). P. B. Gayani (Southern) 1:57.39s, (4). W. H. L. Kalyani (Southern) 1:59.23s, (5) J. K. K. M. L. Damayanthi (UP) 2:04.28s
