Royal College batsman Ramiru Perera acknowledges his half century

The conclusion of the second day’s play of the 147th Battle of the Blues match between traditional rivals S. Tomas’ College and Royal College at the SSC ground yesterday pointed to an inevitable draw unless the unforeseen happens.
The second day’s play saw S. Thomas’ having batted the whole of day on Thursday faced a further 34.1 overs to end with a score of 302 with overnight batsman Reshon Solomans going on to make a knock of 66.
He associated in two brief stands of 49 runs for the fifth wicket with Raephel Hettige and 33 runs for the seventh wicket with Stevon Peiris.Royal in their turn had an early setback losing their first wicket in the third ball of the first over.
But skipper Rehan Peiris made 63 with six boundaries and steadied the innings by putting on three partnerships of 41 runs for the second wicket with Udantha Ganewatte and 34 runs for the third wicket with Vimath Dunsara.
The most valuable stand of 88 runs for the fourth wicket was between Ramiru Perera who remained unbeaten on 70 with ten boundaries for Royal to end day two on 175 for 4 which took them 51.1 overs.
