Rohitha Silva wins Mastercard golf

The Mastercard 5 Club Stableford Tournament brought together a wide field and in the end, it was Dr. Rohitha Silva who accounted for the overall Nett winner with an impressive 47 points setting the standard for the event sponsored by Mastercard with over 270 golfers teeing off at the Royal Colombo Golf Club.

In Division A (Handicap 0–9), Avanka Herat secured victory with a good 38 points, while Manjula Chandrasoma followed closely as runner-up with 35 points highlighting the competitiveness among the low-handicap players.

The battle in Division B (Handicap 10–18) was dominated by Dr. Rohitha Silva, who once again displayed his form with 47 points followed by Romesh Abhayaratne who took the runner-up position with 41 points on a better back nine proving just how tight the margins were in this category.

Division C (Handicap 19–28) made Rakbo Perera triumph with 44 points edging out Dinesh de Silva who finished with 43 points ending as runner up with a better back nine count.

Among the Seniors, Nimal Perera claimed top honours with 38 points while Sunimal  Salgadu was  runner-up with 36 points on a better back nine count.

In the Masters Division, Reyaz Mihular impressed with 42 points followed by Indrajith Fernando on 40 points as runner up.

The women’s Silver division saw veteran golfer Arusha Senadhira who was in sensational form winning with 34 points followed by Tiru Jesudasan as runner up on 33 points. In the women’s Bronze division which was a closely contested segment, Mavali Weerasimghe edged out Mukeeta Manukulasuriya on a score of 39 points with Mavali winning on a better back nine count.

Finally, in the women’s Senior division MC Sellayah prevailed with 30 points while Shanaz Preena ended runner up with 25.
