Plantation Rugby Sevens kicks off today

Rugby fever will be spread among the plantation community when the much looked forward to Plantation Rugby Sevens 2025 kicks off today at the Dickoya Maskeliya Cricket Club (DMCC) Grounds. The kick-off is at 8.00 a.m.

This annual event, deeply rooted in the plantation sporting culture, will see 12 teams from leading plantation companies vying for supremacy in the fast-paced and exhilarating game of Rugby Sevens. 

The Plantation Rugby Sevens has grown into a prestigious event over the years, providing a competitive platform for plantation sector employees to show their athleticism and teamwork. Organised by the Dickoya Maskeliya Cricket Club, this tournament has been a highlight of the local sporting calendar, fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship among the plantations.

Each team will play in a round-robin format within their pool, with the top teams advancing to the knockout stages - Cup, Plate, Bowl and Shield segments to be worked off later in the evening.

The main sponsor of the tournament is Anysort Technologies.
