Pathana Golden Oldies in thrilling 24-run victory

Amila de Silva, Panduka Kumararatne, Amal Wanigasekera, Senaka Almeida and Damith Arjuna were the architects of the Pathana Golden Oldies thrilling 24 runs victory against Colombo Masters in a Masters’ cricket encounter played at the Nationalised Services Cricket Association ground, Ratmalana last Sunday. 

Pathana Golden Oldies skipper Nuwan Hettiarachchi winning the toss opted to bat first and openers Amila de Silva and Panduka Kumararatne steadied the innings with a grand 83 runs partnership. 

Amal Wanigasekera domiciled in New Zealand and a member of the Kiwis over-40 cricket team and on a short holiday representing his Alma Mater at this encounter stroked a fluent 51 runs in 41 balls with seven fours and two sixes as they made 210 in the 40 overs.

In reply Colombo Masters skipper Suwanji Madanayake played an entertaining knock scoring 71 with eight fours while Damith Kumarasinghe, Chaminda Rajapakse, Gihan Shiromal, Chaminda Aranpath, Lasantha Perera and Tilan Wijesinghe also chipped in. But they fell short of the target and were all out for 186.
