Janani Dhananjana who won first place in the women’s 100m at the Fazza World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai

Rising Sri Lankan para athlete Janani Dhananjana won first place in the T46/47 women’s 100m final at the ongoing Fazza World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai, marking a major international victory for the country.
Competing against a strong field of top-ranked para-athletes from around the world, Dhananjana clocked an impressive 12.88 seconds to secure Sri Lanka’s first win of the meet.
Dhananjana, who has consistently delivered strong performances at international level, also represented Sri Lanka at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
At the Dubai Grand Prix last year she won second place in the 100m and 200m events and first place in the long jump, underlining her versatility and elite status.
Sri Lanka is represented at the current Fazza Grand Prix by a small contingent of three male athletes and one female athlete.
