Over 2,500 teams to hit the fray at Gold Cup volleyball

The Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVB) has announced that applications for the Dialog President’s Gold Cup Under-25 Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Championship 2025 will close on July 31 and the organisers expect more than 2,500 teams to enter the fray.

This championship is organized with the aim of identifying and showcasing the talent of young volleyball players who have progressed beyond school level.

Dialog has once again stepped forward to sponsor the event, continuing its support for the fifth consecutive year.

The tournament will be conducted in two phases first with the provincial-level stage followed by the national-level stage.

The SLVB has outlined the necessary regulations and plans to begin the provincial competitions during the final week of August while the national-level matches are scheduled to take place in September.

The SLVB said the high number of teams to contest this year’s event was an indication of the popularity of the sport and championship.

An SLVB official said all applications must be submitted before the July 31 deadline to the Secretary, Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation, No. 33, Torrington Place, Colombo 7.
