Novices’ volleyball provincial matches in November

The Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVB) has announced that the provincial matches for the 2025 Munchee Novices Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Tournament will be held on November 22–23 at the Walagedara Divisional Sports Complex, Mathugama.

The tournament will run alongside the Munchee Super League and applications for participation must be submitted by November 10.

Only players representing their respective districts are eligible to participate in the provincial tournament. Players participating in the 2025 Munchee Super League or those who represented senior volleyball teams in 2023, 2024 or 2025 are not allowed to enter the Munchee Novices Tournament, SLVB Senior Vice President Mahinda Bandara stated at a media briefing.

The preliminary provincial matches will determine district champions and runners-up, who will then qualify for the provincial championship. Only the winning men’s and women’s teams at the provincial level will advance to the national-level tournament.

The national-level preliminary matches are scheduled for December 13 and 14, 2025, at the Pothupitiya Sports Complex Wadduwa, while the finals will be held on January 7, 2026, at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo, under SLVB’s guidelines.

The winners (men’s and women’s teams) will be paid Rs. 100,000 each and runners-up: Rs. 75,000 each. Third placed winner will receive Rs. 50,000 each according to the organisers.
