Nikil Jayaweera’s top knock of 139 put Richmond College on top against Trinity College at the end of the second day’s play in the final of the Under 19 inter-school Division One Tier ‘A’ cricket tournament played at the SSC ground.
Jayaweera’s knock which comprised 13 boundaries and a six helped Richmond in reply to Trinity’s score of 203 and resuming from their overnight score of 18 for no loss to make a formidable score of 304 runs to secure a first innings lead.

Nikil in the process put on two valuable partnerships of 75 runs for the fourth wicket with Seneth Sisan and 114 runs for the fifth wicket with Shehan de Zoysa who made a half ton with five boundaries.
Richmond having taken a first innings lead are virtually assured of the title as an outright win by either side cannot be looked forward to unless something dramatic takes place on the final day’s play today.
Trinity batting the second time ended the day on 38 for 1.
Scores:
Trinity 203 and 38 for 1
Richmond (18/0 overnight) 304 (Nikil Jayaweera 139, Shehan de Zoysa 50, Seneth Sisan 39, Chehan Subasinghe 31: Tharana Wimaladharma 4/82, Supun Waduge 2/16).
