Pathum Nissanka slammed a double century while Sohan de Livera cracked 142 for Kandy on day two of the four-day National Super League Cricket Tournament encounter against Dambulla played at the Dambulla Stadium yesterday.
Pathum, who was unbeaten on 160, went on to make 202, which came off 260 balls and included 19 boundaries while Sohan struck 142 in 169 balls with 17 boundaries.
The pair were associated in a massive 245-run stand for the fifth wicket to help Kandy, resuming from their overnight score of 322 for 4, to end their innings with a formidable score of 453 runs.
Dambulla in their turn were guided by Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva, who made an unbeaten 81 runs and shared two valuable partnerships of 70 runs for the fourth wicket with Sahan Kosala and shared an unbroken stand of 48 runs for the fifth wicket with Dasun Shanaka as they ended the day on 207 for four.
Meanwhile, half centuries by Oshada Fernando and Dunith Wellalage helped Galle, resuming from their overnight score of 35 for one, to end day two on 260 for six in their match against Jaffna played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota yesterday.
The Galle innings was built around two partnerships of 101 runs for the third wicket and an unbroken 91 runs for the seventh wicket.
