Moors SC’s Thaha is Open snooker champ

Irshath Thaha of Moors SC became the champion of the Open Ranking Snooker Championship 2025 when he came out victorious with ease by four frames to one beating Mohamed Rikas of Air Force SC in the final played at the AAC billiard table in Colombo.

In the run up to the final Thaha recorded a convincing four frames to nil win over Dhanushka Puwakgolla of Pyramid SC Kandy while Rikas overcame M.S.N. Fernando of Army SC by four frames to one.

The tournament was conducted by the Billiard and Snooker Association of Sri Lanka and sponsored by Automobile Association of Ceylon (AAC) and fought out for the AAC President’s Challenge Trophy with the participation of over 90 cueists from leading clubs in Colombo, Kandy, Galle and Ratnapura.

Results:

Semi Finals: Thaha Irshath (Moors SC) beat Dhanushka Puwakgolla (Pyramid SC) 4-0 (79/9, 73/12, 61/32, 70/14)
Mohamed Rikas (Air Force SC) beat M.S.N. Fernando (Army SC) 4-1 (63/9, 75/33, 58/20, 2/59, 72/13).
Final: Thaha Irshath (MSC) beat Mohamed Rikas (Air Force SC) 4-1 (73/1, 74/5, 47/58, 65/46, 69/32)
