Monthly Medal golf showcases multiple winners

The CDB Monthly Medal produced some scintillating golf at the Royal Colombo Golf Club where a strong field of players vied for supremacy across multiple divisions with a record 290 golfers in the fray during the last weekend at the beautifully laid down course in the 
heart of Colombo.

In the Overall men’s segment VT Sundaralingam stole the spotlight with a superb 63 Nett (B/B 9) to secure the medal. In the women’s segment, HMD Bandaranayake matched that brilliance also carding an impressive 63 Nett earning her the top spot in the Overall division.

In the Division A (0–9 Handicap) Sachin de Silva dominated winning both the Nett (69) and Gross (69) titles as Chandana Gunasekera fought hard but had to settle for the runner-up berth in the Nett division with 72.

In the Division B (10–18 Handicap) PB Wickrema won with a 63 Nett to take top honours, edging past Madura Amarasinghe on 64. Wickrama doubled his success with a Gross win on 78 underlining his form.

In the Division C (19–28 Handicap the Nett title went to Clifford Fernando who posted a 67 (B/B 9) narrowly edging out Priyantha Kapuwatte on the same score. Dihan Dehigama won in the Gross with an 88 (B/B 9) to show his class.

HMD Bandaranayake

Among the Seniors, Gihan Sugathapala claimed the Nett crown with a steady 67 ahead of BMR Preena on 69. The Gross went to Kumar Boralessa 89 with his consistency.

The Masters Division was ruled by VT Sundaralingam who added to his overall triumph with both Nett (63) and Gross (83) victories. Luke Muthukrisna finished runner-up with a Nett 69.

In the Junior Division rising talent Yuvan Rathiskanth shone with a 69 Nett just ahead of Nidushika Bandaranayake (71). Bandaranaike however had the satisfaction of taking home the Gross with 78.

In the Women’s Silver Division a thrilling battle took place with Keya Abhayaratne showing sensational form in recent time winning on countback with a 72 Nett (B/B 9) over Michele Thurairaja while Anouk Chitty won the Gross title witha 
score of 86.

In the Women’s Bronze Division Dinal de Mel prevail on 67 Nett edging out Gnei Johan Lee (70 B/B 9). Dhanushi Wanasinghe captured the Gross title with a score of 94.
