Matheesha and Nethmi claim U-19 squash titles

Matheesha Wijesekara of Royal College and Nethmi Wickramasinghe of Ladies College became the U-19 boys’ and girls’ champions at the Sri Lanka Junior Open Squash Championship 2025, held at the Air Force Squash Complex, Ratmalana.
The tournament, organised by Sri Lanka Squash (SLS) and sponsored for the first time by Citizens Development Business Finance (CDB), featured over 300 junior players competing in 16 events across boys’ and girls’ categories.
Using a round-robin format, each player had the opportunity to play 3–4 matches, with over 600 games conducted over six days, providing extensive exposure for emerging squash talent in the country.
Champions by category included:
U-19: Matheesha Wijesekara (boys), Nethmi Wickramasinghe (girls)
U-17: Manuth Dassanayake (boys, Gateway College), Thedara Liyanage (girls, Sirimavo Balika Vidyalaya)
U-15: Akane Konara (boys, S. Thomas’ College), Sithumli Mendis (girls, Gateway College)
U-13: Haashid Noordeen (boys, Lourve College), Nethanya Wickramasinghe (girls, Ladies College)
U-11: Kenula Hirusara (boys, D.S. Senanayake College), Thinalee Daswatta (girls, Sirimavo Bandaranayake Vidyalaya)
U-9: Sasruka Gamage (boys, D.S. Senanayake College), Sanuli Godagampala (girls, Sumedha College – Gampaha)
