Martis goes back to school

In a major boost for Isipathana College rugby, trophy winning coach Sanath Martis will be taking over coaching his old school at the 2026 season.

Not only is he an old boy of Isipathana who played as a hooker, Martis turned out for CR and FC and wore the Sri Lanka jersey at Under-24 level.

He last coached St. Peter’s College in the concluded season.

Martis, a respected figure in Sri Lankan rugby, also guided the national team with wins over Kazakhstan and Malaysia.
He also coached the national junior team for many years as well as the senior team at the New Zealand under-85 kgs tour to Sri Lanka this year.
