Major Club Cricket gets underway today

The SLC premier domestic three-day cricket tournament - the Major Club League - will get underway today. 

18 teams divided into two groups of nine in each will be in action with the cream of cricketers in the island in action. 

Last year SSC and Police SC were declared joint champions after the match was called off due to bad weather.

Defending joint champions Police SC along with Ace Capital CC, Colts CC, Bloomfield, Ragama CC, Negombo CC, Badureliya CC, Chilaw Marians CC and Panadura SC are in Group ‘A’. 
The defending champions SSC, NCC, Tamil Union, Moors SC, BRC, CCC, Kandy Customs SC, Nugegoda S&WC and Kurunegala YCC are the teams in Group ‘B’.

The matches scheduled to be played this weekend: Panadura SC vs Police SC at Panadura, Ace Capital CC vs Badureliya CC at CCC, Negombo CC vs Colts CC at Katunayake, Ragama CC vs Bloomfield at Maggona, SSC vs Kurunegala YCC at SSC, Kandy Customs SC vs NCC at Thurstan, Tamil Union vs CCC at P Sara Oval and BRC vs Moors SC at BRC.
