Mahinda amass mammoth 507/7 on first day

Dineth Pehesara and Thevindu Rashmika slammed swashbuckling quick-fire centuries on the first day to help Mahinda College amass a mammoth score of 507 for 7 declared against Nalanda College in their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter at Campbell Place yesterday.

Dineth slammed 175 in 147 balls with19 boundaries and six sixes while Thevindu hit 151 in only 100 balls with 18 boundaries and eight sixes. Thevindu and Dineth had an opening stand of 145 runs that was followed by a 181 runs stand for the fifth wicket.

Meanwhile two fine knocks by Enosh Peterson and Sadeesha Silva who together shared a partnership of 124 runs for the eighth wicket helped St Peter’s College recover from a perilous position of 89 for 5 to make a formidable score of 319 against St Sebastian’s College at Moratuwa.
