MAS grabs major honours at Mercantile badminton

In a stunning show of class, Team MAS led by their captain Randika Fernando let the shuttle do the talking as they displayed amazing sporting spirit and stamped their authority at the recently concluded Mercantile Badminton Tournament winning a Grand Slam Championship title and a Bowl Championship Runners-up spot at the Mercantile Badminton Association Courts in Colombo. 

The key highlight of this year’s tournament was the MAS Team led by Randika Fernando leading from the front. The winning team comprised Randika Fernando (captain), Kasun Amarasena, Thevin Illangakoon, Thevin Jayasekara, Navodh Jayasundara, Wasantha Perera, Ranga Randunu, Chamara Piyatissa, Achini Rathnasiri and Tharani Siriwardane who all lived up to the occasion.

The MAS Team as Bowl Championship Runners-up comprised Pulindu Godakanda Arachchi, Wanshaka Hewathanthri, Dumindu Gunasinghe, Shavinda Peduruhewa, Dhananjaya Wijerathna, Shane Francis, Rohan Perera, Charaka Gunawardana, Januli Jayasekara, Supipi Wijewardhana and Denis Kanchana.

In a year filled with sporting achievements for MAS Holdings, Team MAS were crowned champions at the 13th Mercantile/Government Services International Rating Chess Championship in May this year. 

Team MAS also clinched the championship title at the 71st Mercantile Open Table Tennis Championship in July.
