Lawyers’ Cricket WC begins in Colombo today

The eighth edition of the Lawyers’ Cricket World Cup will be held in Sri Lanka from December 28 to January 6, 2024. All Matches will be played at venues in and around Colombo.   
The opening ceremony will be held today at the P. Sara Oval and the final will be played on January 6 at the SSC grounds in Maitland Place.   
A total of 10 teams from the Commonwealth region will participate in this tournament. This is the second time that Sri Lanka has hosted this tournament.   
Sri Lanka emerged runners-up in 2011, 2017 and 2019 respectively.   
India, England, Bangladesh, Pakistan ‘B’ and Sri Lanka ‘B’ are placed in Group ‘A’ while Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India ‘B’, Bangladesh ‘B’ and the Commonwealth are in Group ‘B’. (SP)
