Kingswood hold slight edge

Kingswood head into their Bogambara Stadium clash with Mahanama eager to register their second victory after three hard-fought outings. This encounter which will be worked off on Sunday with the kick-off at 4.00 p.m.

The Randles Hill outfit opened with a narrow loss to S. Thomas’, then battled Isipathana before conceding late. Their never give up quality as a unit earned them a well-deserved win over Zahira at Maradana.

Key to Kingswood’s rise has been their dominant forward pack, which secures quick ball and lays the platform for a dynamic backs who are capable of breaking tackles and given the space with their ghosting moves for the three quarters.

Newcomers Mahanama have also tasted success, overcoming Dharmaraja College after defeats to Isipathana and S. Thomas’. Their maiden top-division win injected belief into a youthful squad.

Mahanama’s unpredictability lies in their outfit as no teams can take them lightly.

With only a win separating Plate-segment qualification from a Bowl-sector fate, both teams know the stakes. A single turnover or line-break could swing momentum and decide which path they follow after round one.
