Joes spinner Nushan bags eight as rain curtails play

St Joseph’s College right arm spinner Nushan Perera bagged eight scalps as he wrecked the batting of St Servatius College Matara to bowl them out for a low score of 122 runs in their Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter at Darley Road. 

St Joseph’s in their turn was able to face only 33 overs as rain put a halt to proceedings with the home team on 111 for 4.

Only 58 overs of play was possible on day one in the match between S. Thomas’ College, who ended the day on 159 for 5, and St Anthony’s College Katugastota played in Kandy.

St Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa ended on 80 for 2 in reply to De Mazenod’s score of 132 in another rain shortened match played at Kandana. The matches will be continued today.
