Sri Lankan golf will reach new heights today when Jevahn Sathasivam tees off at the final qualifier of the US Amateur Golf Championship 2025 at the Ohio State University, a venue steeped in collegiate golf history and famed for its challenging design.
The US Amateur Championship dating back to 1895 is among the most prestigious amateur golf tournaments globally. Its champions include legends like Bobby Jones, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and more recently, Scottie Scheffler, highlighting the calibre of talent it attracts.
Jevahn secured his spot in this elite qualifier after winning the 2024 National Amateur Championship in Sri Lanka capping off an impressive season that saw him perform strongly on several international amateur circuits.
With 73 golfers teeing off, this marks a historic moment for Sri Lankan golf, as Jevahn becomes the first golfer from Sri Lanka attempt qualification for US Amateur finals, set to take place at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.
