Sri Lanka’s internationally acclaimed boxing referee Ishani Apsara has been selected once again to officiate at the King of the Ring Boxing Tournament, one of Europe’s most prestigious amateur boxing events, scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 2 in Borås, Sweden.
This marks the second time Ishani will participate in this elite competition, where top referees and judges from across the world are invited to ensure fair play and uphold the highest standards of the sport.
A 1-Star IBA (International Boxing Association) referee, Ishani has been an active official on the local and international circuit for over 12 years, earning a reputation for her composure, professionalism and ever-present smile inside the ring.
Currently serving as a Health and Physical Education teacher at Bandaranayake College, Gampaha, Ishani is also known for her sporting background as an all-round athlete, bringing a deep understanding of physical discipline and fairness to her officiating duties.
Her selection for the King of the Ring once again is a proud moment not just for Sri Lanka boxing, but also for women in sports, as it highlights the growing presence and recognition of Sri Lankan officials on the global stage.
The King of the Ring tournament attracts hundreds of competitors from across Europe and beyond each year and Ishani’s continued involvement underscores both her technical excellence and the respect she commands among international boxing authorities.
