The ITF Asia Under 14 South Asia, South East Asia and East Asia Development Week 2 Tennis Championship which got underway at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday saw six Sri Lankan youngsters comprising three each in the girls and boys categories winning their matches.
In the girl’s category, Annaya Norbert the runner-up of the Week 1 tournament along with Sahansa Damsiluni and Eliza Kahagalla tasted success in their second round matches. Annaya and Sahansa overcame Torre Campo Maristella and Paglalunan Ella of Philippines and Eliza got the better of Gantur Anujin of Mongolia by winning margins of two sets to nil.
In the boy’s category, the Sri Lankan trio of Damsath Peiris, Yudheera Athapaththu and Pravesh Sivapalan recorded wins against Kaairl Sabrin Hasiq of Brunei, Dauakoti Bishwo of Nepal and Battushiq Khangari (of Mongolia) also by two sets to nil.
The championship will be continued today.
