The chances of playing the 76th Annual Bradby Shield rugby encounter between the traditional rivals Trinity College and Royal College are gradually fading away following the current health conditions in the country.
As the Ministry of Education has decided to call off all sports activities for the calendar year of 2020, the Inter-Schools rugby season has also come to a standstill. According to reliable source, both Royal and Trinity will make a joint statement in the near future.
Royal are of course, celebrating their 100th year in rugby this season and played only one game against St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota which they won convincingly at home. Trinity also remained unbeaten beating St. Anthony’s and S. Thomas’ without much difficulty.
If the 2020 Bradby Shield rugby encounter does not take place, it will be the first time in the history of the series since 1945 that no games were played between the two schools. In 1971, at least there was one leg worked off in the Bradby Shield series.
