Gateway College delivered an outstanding performance at the Inter-School Squash Championship 2025, held at the Air Force Squash Complex, Ratmalana.
The tournament, organized by the Sri Lanka Schools’ Squash Association, was conducted in two segments - the Individual Championship and the Team Championship last month.
In the individual events, Manuth Dassanayake was the boys’ Under 16 Champion, displaying remarkable talent, focus, and determination throughout the competition. Yolen Withanage also performed impressively to secure fourth place in the same category while Sithumli Mendis showcased exceptional skill and resilience to finish as the runner-up in the girls’ Under 16 event.
Gateway’s success continued in the team events where the boy’s team took third place in the A Division after a series of competitive matches against some of the strongest school teams in the country. The team comprised Manuth Dassanayake, Yolen Withanage, Dillon Perukanda, Ravith Mendis, Jehantha Perera and Oshadha Udumalagala, whose teamwork and consistency were commendable.
Gateway’s success story continued at the recently concluded Air Force Open Squash Championship as Sithumli Mendis dominated the tournament, clinching both the Girls’ Under 15 and Girls’ Under 17 Championship titles while Anuk Apoorva Perera was crowned Boys’ Under 11 (Consolation Plate) winner.
Manuth Dassanayake finished as runner-up in both the boys’ Under 17 and Under 19 categories while Chanumi Thebuwana was the Girls’ Under 15 runner-up and the Girls’ Under 17 third place winner.
