Gamage and Nimshi best athletes

Best athletes – Duwindu Gamage and Nimshi Ekanayaka.


 

Emerging school athletes Duwindu Gamage of Mahasen National School Bakamuna and Nimshi Ekanayaka of Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya were honored as the Best Athlete boys and girls at the 54th Sir John Tarbat Junior Athletic Championship yesterday at Embilipitiya.

Gamage excelled in the under-15 boys’ long jump, recording an impressive 15.41 metres, while Ekanayaka delivered a remarkable performance in the under-15 girls’ 100 meters, completing it in 12.73 seconds, earning them the top individual athlete awards.

In team results, Maris Stella College, Negombo and Lyceum International School, Wattala, successfully defended their titles from last year by winning the overall boys’ and girls’ championships respectively. 

Athletes from Bakamuna Mahasen National School demonstrated exceptional talent, challenging urban schools and securing the boys’ overall runner-up position, a significant achievement in this year’s championship.

Under-15 Boys: Champion – Maris Stella College, Negombo
Under-15 Girls: Champion – Lyceum International School, Wattala
