Malith Dinindu, who represented the Sri Lanka National Volleyball Team, passed away suddenly yesterday. The final arrangements will be announced later.
Educated at Pugoda Meevitigala Junior School and Dompe Siyane National School, he started volleyball, representing the Radhawana Golden Birds Sports Club and Siyane Tharu Sports Club.
He then played volleyball as a professional player, representing the Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club, the Sri Lanka Ports Authority Sports Club and the Ceylon Electricity Board Sports Club.
Malith Dinidu, who has played as a short-ball striker in the national team since 2018, is a player who has made a great contribution to volleyball in Sri Lanka.
He contributed to winning the bronze medal in the 1st Asian Challenge Cup Men’s Tournament held in Sri Lanka in 2018, contributing to winning the bronze medal in the 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal in 2019 and also contributed as a player to the team that won the championship in the CAVA Volleyball Challenge Cup tournament held in Sri Lanka in 2023.
Malith Dinidu has represented the Sri Lanka national team from 2018 to 2023.
