Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has brought on board a seasoned Indian coach to lead a specialised fielding camp.
Former India fielding coach R. Sridhar is set to lead a 10-day fielding camp in Sri Lanka, the country’s cricket board announced in a media release yesterday.
The programme, aimed to ‘elevate the fielding standards of Sri Lankan Cricketers’, will kick off today and will feature Men’s and Women’s national squads, Emerging Squads, Premier Club players, the National Under-19 Team and Women’s ‘A’ Team.
“The Former India fielding coach will begin the programme with the Sri Lanka National Men’s Team and subsequently train other squads, where he will conduct fielding drills, skill-specific training and simulated match scenarios, to replicate game conditions,” said the media release.
During his 10-day stint with SLC, Sridhar will also work closely with coaches from the National, High Performance and Club setups.
A BCCI Level 3 certified coach, Sridhar brings in a wealth of international experience. He served as India’s fielding coach in over 300 international matches between 2014 and 2021 and more recently had a short spell as Assistant Coach with the Afghanistan National Team in 2024.
Sridhar has previously worked with India’s Under-19 Team as both a fielding coach and an assistant coach. He has also been involved in franchise cricket as a fielding coach Indian Premier League (IPL) side Punjab Kings (then known as Kings XI Punjab). ICC
