Final respects to former NOCSL Secretary General Commander H.U. Silva

The final rites of former National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL) and Commonwealth Games Association of Sri Lanka (CGASL) Secretary General, Commander (Retired) H.U. Silva was conducted yesterday evening at the Borella Cemetery in Colombo with the participation of many prominent figures from Sri Lanka’s sporting community.
A distinguished athlete and sports administrator who emerged from Taxila Central College, Horana, Commander H.U. Silva served as the Secretary General of the NOCSL for a period of 12 years from 1997 to 2009.
H.U. Silva was also a pioneer in introducing the sport of archery to Sri Lanka and served for many years as the founding President of the national archery body.
In addition, H.U. was a founding member of Trackmaster Sports Club, one of the country’s leading athletics clubs, and also served as its Vice President.
