Egoism gets in the way of netball Nationals

The Sri Lanka Netball Federation (SLNF) has decided to postpone the 2026 National Senior Netball Championship indefinitely due to communication issues between the Sports Development Department and itself. 

The tournament was initially scheduled for March 22–23 at Matara but will now be considered for a date after September 2026.

The competition is one of the country’s major netball events, and it has not been held since the 2023 championship. 

As part of the SLNF’s current administration, the first tournament under the new management will be the National Junior Championship, planned for August in Colombo.

In preparation for the upcoming 15th Asian Senior Netball Championship, SLNF has also decided to appoint a new head coach and an assistant coach. Applications for these positions will close on February 25, with interviews scheduled for the first week of March.
