Denethma, Sheshandri, Alex, Shun clash in final

The curtain on the ATF Under-14 Week 1 boys and girls tennis tournament will come down today when the finalists will clash for the title at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo.

In the girls’ final the battle for the title will be between two Sri Lankan girls, Denethma Ekanayake and Sheshandri Fernando, as they finished on top in the semi-finals.

Denethma defeated Sethuli Muthugama and Sheshandri got the better of Kavya Banagala by the identical winning margin of two sets to nil.

In the boys’ category Sri Lanka’s Buvindu Jayawardena bowed out of contention when he underwent a defeat at the hands of Alex Aldimita of the Philippines who will meet Shun Wing Leung of Hong Kon.

Girls - Denethma Ekanayake (Sri Lanka) beat Sethuli Muthugama (Sr Lanka) 2-0 (5/4, 4/2). Sheshandri Fernando (Sri Lanka) beat Kavya Banagala (Sri Lanka) 2-0 (4/2, 4/1)

Boys - Alex Aldimita (Philippines) beat Buvindu Jayawardena 2-1 (1/4, 4/2, 10/4). Shun Wing Leung (Hong Kong) beat Jayaraj Penupothulam (India) 2-0 (5/3 5/3)
