Colombo Kickerz Football Academy has launched a youth football development programme for the 2026–27 season under the sponsorship of leading Sri Lankan business entity Lady J.
The sponsorship was officially presented at the Lady J Lifestyle Hub in Colombo.
The academy said the partnership marks a significant step in its efforts to develop young football talent in Sri Lanka with branding support featured on official playing kits and across key academy initiatives and tournaments.
The programme will focus on boys and girls aged 5 to 18, providing structured training and preparing teams to participate in international competitions during the 2026/27 calendar.
Earlier this year, the academy’s Under-12 and Under-14 teams participated in the Abu Dhabi Cup, gaining valuable international exposure.
In addition, steps have been taken to support grassroots football by providing sports equipment at regional level, while also conducting training camps and age-group tournaments to identify emerging talent.
Plans are also underway to send a women’s team to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to gain international experience.
Speaking at the media briefing, founder and academy head Viveca Weerasinghe welcomed the partnership while Lady J Managing Director Anuruddha Wijerathne emphasised the importance of investing in grassroots sports and youth development.
Colombo Kickerz CEO Romario de Silva noted that the upcoming season will feature major initiatives including the Kickerz Cup, international tournament participation, training camps and expanded opportunities for girls’ football.
The academy also confirmed plans for increased overseas exposure through international competitions and training programmes as part of its long-term player development strategy.
